Any of these DSi XL bundles will save buyers a little cash. More on the console itself: This platform is the fourth DS model. Users are surprised at the difference the larger screen makes. While initially some Nintendo die-hards reported that they didn’t plan on getting the larger model, after using it, they raved about the experience. It doesn’t come with new functionalities, and DSiWare games are NOT transferable to this console.  Nevertheless, users are loving the DSi XL model, and here are reasons why:

  • Larger Screen: The screen on the new model is 4.2 inches wide. This is remarkably large compared to:
    • DS Lite: 3 inches
    • DSi: 3.25 inch
    • DSi XL: 4.2 inches

Initially this didn’t sound like THAT big a difference from the DSi, but apparently, it is! Players who laughed at the company’s claims that it would give better side views so friends can look on as you play, are now extremely hyped about this perk of the larger screen. Also, players say that the enhanced size allows more precise moves like jumps and turns.

  • Improved Sound: Because the speakers are bigger, the sound has more clarity (and volume if you so choose). Another perk users weren’t focused on initially, the improved sound is something everyone seems to mention about this console.
  • Battery Life: Nice increase in battery life! Here are the differences at minimum brightness:
    • DSi XL: 13-17 hours
    • DSi lasts: 9-14 hours
    • DS Lite: 15-19 hours
  • Stylus choices: The new model comes with a small stylus that tucks into the console, as well as a much larger pen-sized stylus. Players say that the bigger one is great for extended play. The only thing about the larger stylus is that there is no built-in compartment to store it, so you have to remember to take it along with you.
  • Pre-installed Software: The model comes with the Nintendo DSi Browser and Flipnote Studio. Also included are Brain Age Express: Arts & Letters and Brain Age Express: Math and Photo Clock.
