The DSi XL console was released in the US on March 28, 2010. That was slightly more than a year following the DSi console debut on April 5, 2009. (The DSi XL bundle deals are the latest to be released in March 2010.) Next comes the 3DS! Each console improves on features that the ever-popular DS lacked in music and digital camera applications, connectivity to an online shop, internal storage plus SD card, and more.

Nintendo’s latest consoles include:
- Nintendo DSi XL (2010): This console is “the big boy.” Functionality is very similar to the DSi (save not being compatible with games downloaded with the DSi using DSiWare, darn it!). However, it’s the audio and visual components of this console that’s getting fans excited. The larger screen makes it easier to look on at fellow player’s games, and the sound is definitely superior to prior models.
- Nintendo DSi (2009): This console features cameras, voice recording, internal and external storage capacity, and an online browser from which users can visit the DSi Shop to download gameware, send or receive media to friends and families (including photos taken with the built-in cameras), and much more! Save money by purchasing a Nintendo DSi bundle with games or accessories if you don’t yet have the model.
- Wii (2006): With Wii, Ninendo introduced several state-of-the-art features. Wireless motion-sensitive remote controllers, built-in Wi-Fi capability, and many additional features have earned the Wii the world’s top-selling latest generation console. (Like Wii games, Nintendo DSi games are to be available via an online shop via the browser of the console.)
- Nintendo DS Lite (2006): The Nintendo DS Lite was a smaller, lighter, and offered gamers brighter screens than the previous DS model. Tens of millions of DS Lites have been purchased worldwide.
- Nintendo DS (2004): This portable gaming device blew the competition away. It features two screens, (one of which is a touch screen), a microphone, Wi-Fi capability, and backward compatibility.
The DS series are sleek in look and feel—so unlike many consoles, there are fashionable cases. Nintendo DSi cases can be ordered separately or often in accessory bundle kits. Prior to the DS and Wii platforms, Nintendo released numerous systems dating back to 1985, including:
